The Toowoomba Croquet Club held its gateball tournament over the long weekend with seven teams competing and six pairs in the doubles. It was great weather and a very happy tournament.

In the teams event The Blue Macs from Auchenflower won out over Eildon and Southport in a closely fought battle and in the doubles Sandra Reynolds and Jan Wells came first with Joy Gardner and Jill Gwynne coming second. It was Jill’s first doubles tournament and we are very happy to say she comes from our club, as do Sandra and Joy. Jan Wells comes from the Ipswich Snoopys.

Our state member of parliament Trevor Watt presented the prizes for the teams and Bruce our gateball state representative presented the doubles.

We were very lucky to have the Freedom Rest Homes as our sponsor and they came and dressed up the hut with balloons and gave a talk while we ate lunch.
