Canberra are the current (2013) Australian Gateball Champions, having also won the Australian Championship in 2009.
Canberra are the current holders of the Queensland Gateball Championship, Blue Mountains Gateball Championship and Wagga Wagga Gateball Championship.
Experiences – Overseas
Canberra have competed at the 9th World Gateball Championship in Jeju, South Korea and the 10th World Gateball Championship in 2010 in Shanghai, China. Canberra won one match in Jeju and two of their three matches in Shanghai to finish second in their block. Canberra hopes to go one better in Niigata and qualify for the knockout stage of the tournament.
Training
Canberra are currently training twice a week at the Canberra Croquet Club and the Australian National University.
Canberra have arranged lead-up matches in Sakura City against local teams.
In Japan the team is looking forward to:
- Ramen
- Sumo
- Sushi
- Smoky Whiskey Bars
- Fast Trains
The biggest challenge will be:
Adapting to the longer grass for rushes, long strokes and sparks
Secret Weapon
Volley O.C.
With a trophy list as described it would be great for them to add the World Title.
