Beautiful weather over the weekend of the 12th and 13th of November greeted the players for the 2022 Sunshine Coast Masters and Apprentices Gateball Teams event at Caloundra Mallet Sports Club. The event proved true to its name with several teams introducing new players to tournament for the first time. All the players and especially the apprentices reported that they had a fabulous time. Congratulations to Southport Red the winners of the event, Moreton Bay Muddies who placed second and Rockhampton who placed third. A big thank you to Caloundra members who catered for us and managed the event so successfully and to Margo from Moreton Bay Gateball Club for the event group photo.

On Sunday 13th and Monday 14th November, the Doubles Event was held with 17 teams entering the event. Congratulations to the winning team Steve and Chris Kele (a father and son team from Rockhampton MSC), second place team Peter and Dianne Sweet (a husband and wife team from Southport CC) and Robert Roose and Richard Bevan (team mates from Eildon CC). In accepting their prize, Chris spoke of how great it was to play with his Dad and Steve reminded us of how wonderful it is that Gateball allows us to play in teams with family members. Special thanks to Tournament Manager Robyn Brown (seen here presenting the prizes), to Caloundra members who delivered a wonderful event and to all the volunteers who undertook refereeing and court official responsibilities.
