3rd Asia-Pacific Open International Gateball Championship – 31 October – 2nd November 2025, Chia Yi, Chinese Taipei
The 3rd Asia- Pacific Open International Gateball Championship was held in Chia Yi County, Taiwan from the 31st October to 2nd November 2025. Chia Yi is located in the south western part of Taiwan. It is home to the famous Alishan National Scenic Area, a destination known for amazing sunrises and clouds. The region also serves as the main gateway to Yushan (Jade Mountain), the highest peak in Taiwan.
The tournament was hosted by the Asia-Pacific Gateball Union and the Chinese Taipei Gateball Association who provided countless volunteers to run the event. The tournament included a Team event for 80 teams and a Triple event for 80 teams. The 80 teams were divided into 16 groups of 5 teams, with the top 2 teams progressing to the finals series. The team event was held over the 31st October and 1st November and the triples event was held over the 1st and 2nd November.
Gateball Australia members entered the Triples event only. Referees were engaged for the event and did not play in the event as is the custom in overseas events.
Both the Team and Triples event were won by players from Hong Kong.
The venue was the Wu Feng University in Minxiong Township, Chia Yi County. It was a great venue choice, with the university synthetic soccer field used for the 16 courts, university facilities for bathrooms and marquees to house the teams set up on the track surrounding the field.
Players stayed at the Hoya Resort Hotel in Chia Yi and a welcome banquet was hosted at Yi Xiang Yuan, a local restaurant on the first evening of the event.
