Gateball players return to play in QLD after the Covid 19 restrictions

From the Rockhampton Mallet Sports Club in Central QLD right down south to the Croquet Club at the border town of Coolangatta the players of Gateball have returned to this friendly, team – oriented game of Gateball. It is not difficult to observe social distancing in our club games because just one player only at a time is permitted on the field. Most of us will need to put in plenty of practice to regain our level of skill.

With beautiful days filled with sunshine being the norm in winter, it is always so good to resume the game after more than two months absence. At Pine Rivers Club to the north of Brisbane many members are enjoying the newly created court especially prepared for Gateball games.

All of the Clubs have been provided the information about the State Gateball Teams and Doubles Championships that are being held at Caloundra from 15-17th August. This event will be the first one held in QLD this year because of the pandemic restrictions. We do hope that teams will be permitted to travel from NSW and Canberra to attend.

  1. Great pics. Gateball won’t start in NZ till early September. We are aiming to have the NZ
Gateball Champs in February at Rose Gardens in Palmerston North. 2021. At our AGM last week Gateball officially joined Association Croquet and Golf Croquet as a sports code at the Rose Gardens Croquet Club. Progress is being made. 🇳🇿👍

    • Thanks Dennis for your comments. It is a positive step that has been taken by Rose Gardens Croquet Club by officially including Gateball as one of its sports codes. Hopefully flights to NZ will be possible for players from Australia. Our Club has interested players! Barbara
