Australian Gateball Championships: Congratulations to the Capricorns and Pine Rivers.

Australian Gateball Championships: Congratulations Capricorns and Pine Rivers

Well done to these two clubs for submitting the first two entries for the Nov/Dec Australian Gateball Championships. Both teams are first time/new combination AGC entrants, although some of their members have participated before. Further posts with some background information about these two teams will follow shortly. Other entrants are also encouraged to send a short resume for posting when they submit their entries.

Australian entry forms were circulated to State Coordinators a few weeks ago, with a request that they be forwarded to clubs. Event information has also been sent and is available on this website on the Events tab

The Korean team which won our last AGC has booked flights and are returning to defend their title. They will also play games  in Sydney and the Blue Mountains before heading to Melbourne. Anyone in the Sydney area or passing through Sydney or Lithgow in the week before the Nationals is invited to join us. Please contact the National Coordinator for information. Provided we can pay for interpreters, this team has also agreed to provide some coaching for a small group of Australian players during the Friday session.

Japanese players who hosted Geoff Crook of SA and family last year have also told him they expect to attend.  Geoff and Trish are playing shortly in Geneva and we hope they will encourage a few European players to visit us in November, to escape the northern cold.

A Hong Kong team has also been in touch to discuss details about the event. The Chinese Gateball Association has phoned and hope to send teams. An ongoing dialogue with Brazil is also under way.

Anyone else with overseas contacts who they to encourage should ask them to contact info@gateball.com.au . The National Coordinator has a variety of entry forms that suit visa requirements for specific countries and has links with the appropriate government departments which will assist visa applicants. All entries will be received and handled by the National Coordinator.

Looking forward to seeing many of you at our flagship event. We need as many Australian teams as possible to participate, so our Gateball Australia event has a good reputation in the international community.  The event also helps us select teams for the 2020 Asian Gateball Championships in China.

  1. Yeah QLD! Always knew we were quick off the mark! The Capricorns will be travelling a long way and are showing real commitment by combining players from 3 different clubs to form a team.
Seriously though, it will be a wonderful experience for all Australian teams who attend because they will watch or play against many different overseas teams.
