Jamberoo Super 3s

The sun shone and the faces beamed over another splendid weekend of gateball at Jamberoo Croquet Club.

In its 6th year our Triples competition remains a very popular and highly contested event on the NSW gateball calendar.

10 teams entered allowing a complete round robin format to be played.

Adding to the mix this year were 2 players from Nowra CC, Margaret Sawers & Marie McLean, entering in their first ever gateball event. Nowra will definitely be a team not to be taken lightly if these ladies are any indication of their potential.

Team MGs from Jamberoo, consisting of Manuel Gutierrez, Glenda Gutierrez & Graham Shephard, again proved that they were the team to beat. They managed 8 wins and 69 net points.

The runners up were team Hunter Gatherers, a composite team from Toronto and Newcastle National Park with Helen Chalmers, Ruth Mulvaney & Judy Squelch. They ended the competition with 6 wins and 26 net points.

Referee coordinator Manuel Gutierrez presented 2 very informative sessions. The first being a clarification of the updated procedural changes of the game and the second being on some misunderstanding of gaining the right to continuous strokes.

Presentations by Director of Gateball Australia John Park were made to Helen Chalmers on attaining her Level 2 referee accreditation, Manuel Gutierrez on attaining his Level 1 referee accreditation and to both Manuel & Glenda Gutierrez on attaining their Level 1 Foundation Coach accreditation.

A great weekend of gateball, friendship and acknowledgement.
