Takako and the Great Typhoon

In an attempt to bring you news about everything “gateball” we are proud to announce the discovery of an English-language children’s book which features gateball. It could be useful if you want to start indoctrinating the kids or grandkids into the game you are always playing…

Takako and the Great Typhoon was written by Kelly Garcia who lives in Okinawa, Japan. The story follows the adventures of Takako, a shisa (Japanese lion-dog statue), in her local village – including a game of gateball!

Kelly kindly sent us this picture from the book which features Takako playing gateball.

You can read more about the book, watch a video of the story and purchase copies from the Takako and the Great Typhoon website.

If you see any other books which mention gateball please email us so we can post a link.

Happy reading!
